The casting out of the mold was 'test painted' to get ideas for techniques and decal fitting for the final model. First the model was given a 'wash' using acrylic black paint. The paint was brushed over the entire surface of the wet model, then wiped down with a damp cloth to remove all excess paint from the surface leaving the dark paint in the scribed lines and detail. The bands on the saucer top were then painted black and copper was mixed into light gray and various details were painted. Gloss was applied and decals were positioned. More to come with complete and accurate detail painting!
