A few of the full scale hand held props are shown here.
A Communicator prop obtained in the mid eighties is refurbished and a small wind up motor placed inside.
The backside of the communicator is attached with silicone sealant. A patch of Velcro is attached to the back.
The prop is completed. When wound, the small motor spins the inner graphic of the moire.
The moire is made up of two layers. The outer layer is a line graphic placed on a clear disk. The inner line graphic spins creatig the moire effect.
Tricorder body panels are made from vac form shapes over wood plugs. The shapes are cleaned up and painted gloss black.
A piece of sheet aluminum is cut to size and detailed with a sheet of plastic for the screen, acrylic jewels for the indicators and tank wheel parts for the switches.
The interface panel is attached to the hood.
Side panels are cut to size from sheet aluminum. Holes are located and drilled for hinge pins.
The back panel is epoxied and held in place with steel pins.
The disks and speaker frame are cut on a lathe from a resin blank.
The disks are complete and the disk frame is made up from sheet styrene.
The disks are attached to the frame completing assembly.

The middle panel disk and speaker grill assembly is painted chrome silver.
