Kongo Debris
PRIMARY HULL
The forward half of the saucer required it to be extensively damaged. A hollow resin cast saucer was made.
Grid lines were drawn on to aid in locating the decals. The name decal was applied to assist in locating where the damaged area would be placed so they would not obscure the name and NCC number.
Several panels were cut out of the top. The forward leading edge was heated and cut away.
Detail was added to the cut out panels. Deck detail was added to the forward openings with sheet plastic and small plastic strips and tubes. The assembly was then primered.
It was decided that the model needed more damage. Additional areas were cut away and addition sheet plastic deck detail was added. Deflector grid lines were engraved in near all of the damaged areas and the model was primered again.
The model was painted a base coat of very light gray. The blown away panels were painted with a dark gray.
The first layer of weathering was applied by spraying medium gray paint thru hull plating stencils.
