The secondary hull from a commercially available model kit was modified and molded. A hollow resin casting was made.
The resin cast secondary hull was marked where the damage would be and sections of the hull were cut out. The engine nacelles from the commercial kit were marked and cut down to shape.
Several tank wheel parts were pulled from the parts box. Several LEDs were placed into the wheel assemblies and soldered to power supply leads. These assemblies will light the forward dome areas when complete.
A brass tube was cut to size and installed into the base of the neck. This serves two purposes as a support for the neck and as an elevator shaft with the damaged deck detail.
Here is a small Windows Media file (wmv) clip of the completed Secondary Hull with fully animated lighting effects.
