Enterprise NCC-1701 Part 2

Day 6
The loose resin parts were cleaned up and prepped for primer.
The plastic engine dome parts were prepped for assembly. The front parts on two pairs of the domes were sanded flat for the spikes to sit on. Eighteen 'sheilds' were cut and trimmed to shape. Lastly, the dome shapes were cut from the rings on the last pair for the Production Version.
The tips from the lipstick containers were cut off and glued into the loose rings. The spikes were attached to the domes and the shields were all aligned and glued on. These assembles were then primered.
Day 7
The three models and loose dome parts were painted with a custom mixed base color of 2 ozs of Rustoleum Gloss White and one half of a one quarter ounce jar of Testor's Silver.
Day 8
The inboard channels on the nacelles were masked off and panels on the bottoms of the nacelles were also masked for painting.
These areas were painted with the base color darkened with the other half of the 1/4 oz bottle of Testor's Silver added. After airbrushing, these areas were lightly misted over with the base color to lighten them up.
The 'handlebars' in the inboard channels were painted with the base color.
Day 9
The 'neck' areas of the models were masked for painting.

Metallic green and dark blue were added to the base color to make a slightly darker blue-green tint. This color was sprayed onto the entire neck of the First Pilot Version.

This color was applied the the forward leading edge of the Second Pilot Version neck....
...And onto the leading edge of the neck of the Production Version. The base color was then lightly misted over the Second Pilot and Production Versions to lighten them up and 'blend' them into the rest of the model.
The base was painted flat black.
The engine domes were airbrushed copper as an undercolor. The ringed dome set was airbrushed deep red.
Dark metallic red was then airbrushed over the domes.
Day 10
The deflector amp rings were painted with a mix of 50% gold and 50% copper. The Production Version rings were painted with this color with 50% black added by volume.

The Pilot Version deflector dishes were painted with a mix of 50% gold and 50% copper. Black and copper was mixed for the final dish. The Pilot Version dishes were 'weathered' with this dark copper mix also.

The aft thrusters on the Second Pilot end caps were painted black. The aft vents on all three versions were painted with a light gray.
The sides of the Production Version aft caps were painted with the same light gray. The back end of the caps were painted with dark gray and the ball was left the hull color. After painting, the caps were attached. The 'linear accelerator' spine on the top of the Second Pilot and Production Versions were painted medium gray. The impulse deck for the Production Version was painted the same color, then attached.

The Pilot Version engine domes were masked and the base hull color was sprayed on. (Note the weathering templates in the background.)
